| At the heart of Datex' advanced Internet
Operations lie the Datex Data Centers. These hardened and secure facilities are
geographically and network diverse. They are located in ultra-secure buildings maintained
by 24x7 onsite personnel. Each data center contains backup and disaster recovery systems
to ensure the safety and availability of customers' applications, services and data. A Typical Data Center Includes:
Power: Power is supplied via two separate
34,800-volt power lines of electricity feeding from two separate city grid systems with
two points of entry into the building. If for any reason there is a break in power, all
critical equipment in the building can be run by UPS battery power until the five (5)
1,100-kilowatt generators begin to operate. These generators start within 5-7 seconds.
Bare metal testing of the generators is conducted at least 2 times per month. Fuel for the
generators is stored in three (3) 30,000 gallon underground storage tanks which provide
enough fuel to operate the building at 100% load for 30+ days.
UPS: All critical equipment loads are fed from the
Emerson UPS system. The UPS system consists of five (5) 560 KVA modules and three (3)
battery strings to ensure that critical loads never experience an interruption in power.
Central Plant, N+3 redundancy: The Chilled Water
central plant consists of three (3) 1,000 ton and two (2) 500 ton Trane
centrifugal chillers with four (4) 1,500 ton ceramic cooling towers. Cooling the entire
building on a hot summer day typically requires 1,300 tons of cooling, providing N+3
redundancy within existing chiller central plant.
Fire Detection: VESDA Laser Plus
Sprinklers: Equipment areas are
protected by a pre-action wet pipe system. The system detects any water leakage within the
building based on the level of condensation on pipes within the building. Excess
condensation immediately triggers alerts to the building operations staff. For further prevention the multi-zoned sprinkler
systems are designed to prevent fires within only the areas of the data center that are
affected. The sprinkler system is powered by one (1) 250 hp electric fire pump and one (1)
150 hp diesel driven pump.
Facility Security: Our high security facilities are
accessible by authorized personnel only. Rack access is also limited to authorized
personnel only. The data center is manned 24x7 by uniformed security guards and is
equipped with video surveillance cameras and monitors. All security data is backed up and
stored offsite.
Monitoring: 24x7 monitoring is
provided by BroadSpires Network Operations Staff.
Furthermore, the data centers are all fully enmeshed with Datex Intelligent Network Technology, capable of
delivering 99.999% uptime and minimum latency for your Internet Applications.
Datex currently has five Data Centers, located in Los
